The Mantis Shrimp has earned the well-respect title “The Thumb Splitter” because of it’s powerful strikes. This is no exaggeration as the Shrimp can indeed shatter bone and cut through the flesh of a hand. Even aquarium glass is not safe and Aquariums fear keeping these shrimp in captivity for display. They’ve caused hundreds of thousands in damage by breaking the glass and many of the fish on display have died.
